TheMission
Every six months we send a group of volunteers to the same site
the Clinica Maxeña, to provide medical and surgical eye care over a one week period.
We are volunteer ophthalmologists and operating room personnel who provide medical and surgical eye care to an indigenous Guatemalan population.
The Clinica Maxeña is the Guatemalan Mission site for the Diocese of Helena, Montana. It has provided year-round basic medical care to the town of Santo Tómas la Unión, Suchitepéquez, and the surrounding villages since 1966.
Rotary Clubs and other donors have contributed equipment for examination and surgery.
Our groups usually consist of four or five ophthalmologists, often a Stanford third year ophthalmology resident, and several nurses and surgical scrub technicians familiar with ophthalmic surgery.
“Seeing Again-EyeCare Guatemala” is an ongoing medical and surgical mission project at the Clinica Maxeña in Santo Tómas La Unión,
Sponsored by the Diocese of Helena, Montana and the Los Gatos and Santa Cruz California Rotary Clubs.
Our team has over 20+ years of finance experience in both public and privates companies in the Silicon Valley in diverse industries.
